Urugua-í Provincial Park, Nature reserve in Misiones, Argentina.
Urugua-í Provincial Park is a nature reserve located in northeastern Misiones Province, covering a large area with rolling hills and mountainous terrain near the Sierra de la Victoria. The land encompasses river valleys, dense forests, and elevated zones that form part of the Atlantic rainforest ecosystem.
The park was established in 1988 following an initial 1982 conservation decree that protected a smaller portion of the Urugua-í River ecosystem. The protected area was subsequently expanded to safeguard more habitats and maintain ecological functionality across the region.
The park forms part of the Trinational Biodiversity Corridor, connecting conservation areas across Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay to preserve regional ecological heritage.
Access is available through two ranger stations that provide camping areas, hiking trails, and basic facilities including electricity and drinking water. Visitors should check in at these stations upon arrival and plan their time based on their interests and fitness level.
The site supports a remarkable diversity of bird species and various rare fish species in its waterways. These animal populations make the location a refuge for endangered mammals of the Atlantic rainforest region.
