Museum of Science and Technology, Interactive science museum in the Partenon district, Porto Alegre, Brazil

The Museum of Science and Technology is a large facility featuring interactive exhibits across physics, chemistry, biology, and earth sciences. It also houses numerous fossil specimens that support research on biodiversity and natural history.

The museum began in 1967 as the Museum of Natural History, founded after professor Jéter Jorge Bertoletti's third formal request, and was renamed Museum of Science that May. It opened in a 100 m² room on the ground floor of the Physics Institute. In 1994 it moved into a new building shared with the Centro de Ciências e Cultura, and it opened to the public under its current name on 9 December 1998.

The place plays an important role for schools in the city, hosting groups of students throughout the week and offering activities tailored to different ages. This educational focus shapes how visitors experience the space and its role in the local community.

The museum occupies 10,000 m² of a 17,500 m² building shared with the Centro de Ciências e Cultura, at Ipiranga Av. 6681, Building 40, in the Partenon district. It opens Tuesday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and weekends from 10 am to 6 pm. The entrance is on the PUCRS campus, reachable by bus or car.

Many fossils come from excavations across different regions of Brazil and reveal the country's prehistoric past. This collection offers insights into South American natural history that visitors often discover by exploring beyond the main exhibits.
