Aclimação, Residential neighborhood in Liberdade District, São Paulo, Brazil.
Aclimação is a residential neighborhood in São Paulo located on a triangular stretch of land at 761 meters above sea level, bordered by Paraíso, Vila Mariana, Vila Deodoro, and Cambuci. The area features tree-lined streets with apartment buildings, shops, and green spaces that characterize the district's layout.
Carlos Botelho purchased the land in 1892 to create a Brazilian version of the Parisian Jardin d'Acclimatation, featuring a zoo and recreational facilities. The original garden concept eventually transformed into an upper-middle-class residential area.
The neighborhood reflects Portuguese heritage through institutions like Casa de Portugal, while Korean influences are evident in shops and eateries near Liberdade. This cultural blend shapes the local character and how residents and visitors experience daily life in the area.
The district is administered by the Sé Subprefecture and connects to other parts of São Paulo through several major transportation routes. Visitors can easily navigate the area and access neighboring zones through these well-established connections.
The area started as a garden with a canoeing lake and dairy farm that supplied fresh produce to the city. This rural recreational past contrasts sharply with its current role as a densely developed residential district.
