Viaduto Cidade de Guarulhos, Cable-stayed viaduct in Vila das Palmeiras, Guarulhos, Brazil

The Viaduto Cidade de Guarulhos is a cable-stayed viaduct that crosses the Presidente Dutra highway and serves as a major traffic route connecting different neighborhoods. The structure features multiple lanes designed to handle substantial vehicle flow throughout the day.

The viaduct was inaugurated on 7 July 2010, crossing the Presidente Dutra highway between km 218 and km 219 in Vila das Palmeiras. Initially budgeted at over 31 million reais, the project ended up costing more than 60 million reais. It was built with 28 steel stays, a 170-metre length and a 24-metre deck width, and has served as a city landmark since opening.

The viaduct is named Cidade de Guarulhos - Prof. Antonio Veronezi, honouring the professor whose name was added to the official designation. Its 28 steel stays and 60-metre pylon made it a postcard image of Guarulhos after the July 2010 opening. The landscaping along both sides includes 38 palm species and more than 50 shrub species, with lakes for ornamental fish.

As a major connecting route, the viaduct links multiple neighborhoods and is used by commuters throughout the day. The best time to observe the structure is outside peak hours, when traffic is less intense.

The landscaping covers 8,000 m² on both sides of the viaduct, with water mirrors, lakes for ornamental fish, 38 palm species, over 50 shrub species, epiphytes and bromeliads, plus wooden decks and benches. The lighting runs on five projectors hung from two poles over 15 m tall, at 3,800 watts, costing 26,000 reais.
