Site of the Candinha

The Site of Candinha is a former colonial mansion in Guarulhos built with rammed earth in the Baroque style, serving as a casa grande typical of that era. It contains twelve rooms and fourteen windows arranged according to traditional construction methods of the period.

The property came into the hands of Amador Bueno da Veiga in 1717 and later passed to Antonio Bueno da Silveira, who built the mansion around 1825. This transition marks the establishment of colonial settlements in the interior of São Paulo during that era.

The house reflects how colonial families organized their daily lives, with spaces designed to separate family living areas from work zones. The layout shows the economic importance this place held in the region during that period.

A window on the southern side of the building was specially designed to provide a direct view of agricultural work happening on the property. This feature reveals how carefully controlled colonial operations were organized.
