The state park containing Pico Pedra Azul was established in 1991 through Law 4,503, protecting 1,240 hectares of Atlantic Forest ecological heritage.
The mountain serves as a critical water source for the Greater Vitória region, providing 70 percent of the water supply through the Jucu River springs.
Visitors must schedule their hiking excursions one day in advance and can only access the trails between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Tuesday through Sunday.
The mountain's surface changes color throughout the day as sunlight strikes its mineral-rich facade, displaying variations of blue, green, and yellow tones.
