Pico do Sol

Pico do Sol rises to an elevation of 1,313 meters within the Serra do Gandarela National Park, offering extensive views across the surrounding mountain ranges.

The mountain stands as part of the ancient Espinhaço mountain range, which formed during the Precambrian period and shaped the regional geography of eastern Brazil.

Local communities maintain traditional practices of guided mountaineering through the trails, passing knowledge of natural water sources and regional flora to visitors.

The 5.7-kilometer trail to reach the summit requires professional guides and includes two water points, with an average grade of fifteen percent throughout the path.

The summit contains natural water springs that feed into the Cascatinha waterfall, creating a rare mountain-top water source in the Serra do Caraça region.
