Cariacica is a large municipality in Espírito Santo state, stretching across terrain northwest of Vitória. The city includes numerous residential neighborhoods alongside commercial and industrial areas.
The area was originally inhabited by Tupiniquim Indians before becoming a district of Vitória in 1837. Independence as a separate municipality followed in 1890.
The name Cariacica comes from the Tupiniquim language, reflecting the region's indigenous roots. Saint John the Baptist is honored as the patron saint during celebrations throughout the city.
