Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Baroque church in downtown Cabo Frio, Brazil
The church displays a simple facade with a single door and three choir-level windows, complemented by a bell tower on the left side.
The construction of the current church structure began in 1663 when the city center relocated from the Passagem district to its present location.
The main altar, carved by Portuguese artist Manoel Bessa, features a wooden statue of Our Lady of the Assumption from early 17th century Portugal.
The church maintains regular mass schedules and welcomes visitors to explore its architectural elements and religious artifacts throughout the day.
The church houses a rare baptismal font made of Lioz stone from the 17th century, representing one of few remaining examples in Brazil.
