Janq'u Uma, Mountain summit in La Paz Department, Bolivia.

Janq'u Uma rises to an elevation of 6,425 meters in the Cordillera Real range, featuring steep terrains and permanent snow-covered slopes throughout the year.

German mountaineers Adolph Schulze and Rudolf Dienst completed the first documented ascent of Janq'u Uma on June 11, 1919, after a six-day expedition from Cocoyo.

The name originates from Aymara language, with 'janq'u' meaning white and 'uma' meaning water, reflecting the mountain's connection to local indigenous communities.

Climbers access the mountain through two main routes: the Normal Route via Laguna Negra or from Cocoyo, with the winter months of June to August offering optimal conditions.

The mountain's elevation was initially estimated at over 7,000 meters, leading to extensive debates about its ranking among South America's highest peaks.
