Intini Uyu Pata, Archaeological site in Puno Region, Peru.
Intini Uyu Pata is a site with ancient stones and carvings located at high mountain elevation near Yunguyo Province. The place spreads across a small mountain area with several marked sections, each featuring monoliths and animal and sun symbols.
The site was created by early Andean peoples as a place for sun worship and shows religious monuments from peoples who lived before Spanish arrival. These carvings and structures reflect belief systems that lasted for centuries.
The ceremonial spaces here show animal and sun representations that reveal how ancient people used this mountain area as a place for religious practices. The carved images remain visible today and tell of the beliefs that were important to those who lived here.
Access is via a paved road from Yunguyo city, with a marked turn and then walking on foot to reach the site. Visitors should be prepared for the high altitude and bring sturdy footwear, as the ground can be rocky and uneven.
The central stone blocks feature carvings in both high and low relief showing animals and sun signs that were used in ancient ritual ceremonies. This technique of carving at different depths shows great skill in stoneworking.
