The Nuestra Señora de la Asunción church features a Latin cross floor plan with wooden carved doors and extensive religious paintings throughout its interior spaces.

The construction of this religious building took place between 1568 and 1620, marking a period of Catholic expansion in the Puno region of Peru.

The church houses numerous religious artworks from the 17th and 18th centuries, including paintings by Jesuit artist Bernardo Bitti and multiple altarpieces.

The church museum opens Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with entrance fees of 8 soles for adults and reduced rates for students.

The interior displays a mural depicting the coronation of the Virgin by the Holy Trinity, attributed to the painter Bernardo Bitti.
