Alto Paraíso de Goiás

The municipality spans 2,593 square kilometers of terrain at an elevation of 1,272 meters, featuring numerous waterfalls and natural formations within the Cerrado ecosystem.

The settlement originated in the mid-18th century as a cattle ranch called Veadeiros before officially becoming a municipality in 1953 with its current name adopted in 1963.

The town functions as a center for alternative lifestyles, drawing people interested in meditation, natural therapies, and spiritual practices from across Brazil.

Visitors can reach Alto Paraíso via GO-118 highway from Brasília, with daily interstate bus services operating between the two locations throughout the year.

The region sits upon a 1.8-billion-year-old plateau containing high concentrations of quartz crystal deposits, with nearly 2,000 waterfalls scattered throughout the municipality.
