Alto Paraíso de Goiás

Alto Paraíso de Goiás is a municipality in northeastern Goiás, Brazil, spread across hilly terrain at about 1,272 meters (4,173 feet) of elevation. The area contains numerous waterfalls and natural formations within the Cerrado ecosystem, with grasslands and dense scrubland covering the landscape.

The settlement began in the mid-1700s as a cattle ranch called Veadeiros and officially became a municipality in 1953. The current name was adopted in 1963 to reflect the region's elevated terrain.

The town has become a gathering place for people interested in meditation, natural healing, and spiritual practices. You can find communities and centers throughout town that actively practice and share these approaches.

You can reach Alto Paraíso via the GO-118 highway from Brasília, with regular bus services connecting the two cities year-round. The drier months offer better conditions for outdoor activities, as trails and paths become more accessible.

The region sits on a quartz plateau that is about 1.8 billion years old and contains significant amounts of quartz crystal deposits. This ancient geology shapes the appearance of the landscape and draws visitors interested in minerals and earth science.
