Mirante da Janela

Mirante da Janela is a viewpoint perched on the Chapada dos Veadeiros plateau, looking out over valleys and rock formations of the Brazilian highlands. The location sits at a height where you can see layered rock walls, rolling ridges, and the way the land slopes away into the distance.

This viewpoint became known after the Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park was established and recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site in 2001. The park's international status brought the area into focus as a destination for visitors.

The viewpoint draws nature enthusiasts who come to observe and document the regional plant and animal life in its natural setting. People gather here to study the landscape and share what they discover.

To reach the viewpoint, you walk along a trail of roughly 4 kilometers starting from Museu do Garimpo. Wear sturdy footwear and be prepared for the path to vary in difficulty depending on weather and season.

During the rainy season from October to April, a waterfall called Cachoeira do Abismo becomes active along the hiking path. This seasonal water feature is something visitors can only witness during those specific months of the year.
