Universidade Federal de Goiás, public university in Goiânia, Goiás, Brazil
Universidade Federal de Goiás is a public university in Goiânia with multiple campuses and approximately 80 laboratories across the institution. The institution offers around 150 graduate and undergraduate programs in fields ranging from medicine and engineering to law and the arts.
The university was established in 1960 through the merger of five existing higher education institutions in Goiânia. Over subsequent decades it expanded to other cities with additional campuses, and some of these locations eventually became independent universities.
The institution serves as a cultural hub for the city where art exhibitions, theater performances, and community events take place regularly. These activities allow visitors and students to experience different forms of artistic expression and local traditions.
The main Samambaia campus in the north is the largest and contains most programs along with libraries and laboratories spread across the grounds. Plan to allow adequate time for exploring since the campus is quite spacious with wide pathways and clear signage throughout.
The institution operates a planetarium within the campus and its own radio and television station run by students. These facilities are uncommon at universities and provide hands-on learning in communication and science fields.
