The rectangular building features two pyramidal towers adorned with tiles, a central nave, and lateral corridors spread across two floors.
Built between 1722 and 1726, the church suffered a devastating fire in 1984, leading to its transformation into a cultural space in 2009.
The building houses three distinct sections: Sala Mario Gusmao for performances, Galeria Juarez Paraiso for exhibitions, and Patio Iya Nasso for events.
The cultural center operates Tuesday through Friday from 13:00 to 21:00, with administrative services available from 09:00 to 17:00.
The site contained the first Ketu matrix candomble terreiro in Salvador, influencing spiritual centers like Casa Branca, Gantois, and Ile Axe Opo Afonja.
