Chapada Diamantina National Park, National park in Bahia, Brazil

The park covers 152,000 hectares of mountains, valleys, caves, and waterfalls across five municipalities, with elevations reaching 1,301 meters above sea level.

The region gained prominence during the 19th century diamond mining era, which led to settlements and infrastructure development across the mountainous terrain.

Local communities maintain traditional practices through regional festivals, craft production, and culinary traditions influenced by indigenous, African, and European heritage.

Visitors enter through the towns of Lençóis, Palmeiras, Andaraí, Mucugê, or Ibicoara, where guides and accommodation services are available for park exploration.

The park contains three distinct Brazilian biomes - Atlantic Forest, Cerrado, and Caatinga - creating varied ecosystems that support multiple endemic species.
