Praia de Paramana

Praia de Paramana is a sand beach located on the Isle of the Friars in the Bay of All Saints near Salvador, featuring white sand and clear shallow waters. The shoreline runs along one of several sandy stretches that dot this distinctive island formation.

The Isle of the Friars served as a strategic location during the Portuguese colonial period, with fortification structures built to defend the region. One of these structures later became a prison during a regional conflict in the 1800s.

Local fishermen work the waters daily, bringing their catch directly to visitors and nearby restaurants as they have for many years. This livelihood shapes the rhythm of life on and around the beach.

The beach is accessible only by boat, with regular ferry services departing from Salvador and Madre de Deus during daylight hours. Plan to visit during brighter parts of the day for the best experience.

The island has an unusual star shape with multiple pointed tips, each containing its own sandy stretch within protected waters. This distinctive geography creates several separate beach coves around the island.
