The Sobrado e Fábrica do Engenho Cajaíba complex spans 942 square meters and includes a former sugarcane factory with one floor above ground level.
Established in 1800, the estate belonged to José J. de Argolo, a Sargento-Mor of the militia, and later became the birthplace of Barão de Cajaíba.
The property represents the Portuguese colonial influence on Brazilian agriculture and industrial development through its architectural and functional elements.
