The Bendegó meteorite measures 1.5 meters in width and 0.65 meters in height, with a mass of 5,360 kilograms of iron and nickel.

A young cattle herder named Domingos da Motta Botelho discovered this meteorite in 1784 near Monte Santo in the Bahia region of Brazil.

The National Museum in Rio de Janeiro exhibits this meteorite as a central piece for education about extraterrestrial materials and geological studies.

The meteorite surface contains several depressions and cylindrical holes formed when troilite burned during its atmospheric entry to Earth.

This meteorite survived the 2018 National Museum fire without damage, preserving its scientific value for research about planetary formation.
