Uiraúna

Uiraúna is a municipality in Paraíba in northeastern Brazil, characterized by flat terrain interspersed with low hills. The landscape shapes the settlement pattern and land use throughout this administrative division.

The region was originally inhabited by the Icós tribes, part of the Cariri group, who settled near rivers for fishing. Colonial settlement later brought changes to the land use and community structure.
