Uiraúna

Uiraúna extends across 294 square kilometers of terrain at an elevation of 316 meters in northeastern Brazil, featuring flat landscapes and low hills.

The region was initially inhabited by Icós tribes from the Cariri group, who established settlements near rivers for fishing before colonial settlers arrived.

The Banda Jesus, Mary and Joseph, established in 1914, represents a long-standing musical tradition that continues to enrich local cultural expressions.

The municipality maintains road connections to surrounding areas, with regular transportation services linking it to major cities in the state of Paraíba.

Local tropeiros historically traveled to Mossoró carrying goods like rapadura, cotton, and flour, establishing essential trade routes across the region.
