Sandton

Sandton contains numerous glass-walled skyscrapers, high-end shopping centers, and multinational corporate headquarters spread across its northern Johannesburg location at 1493 meters elevation.

The district emerged in 1969 from the combination of Sandown and Bryanston suburbs, later becoming the primary financial center as businesses relocated from downtown Johannesburg.

Nelson Mandela Square features a six-meter bronze statue and serves as a central gathering space where visitors experience South African art exhibitions and performances.

The Gautrain station provides direct rail connections to OR Tambo International Airport and central Johannesburg, while multiple bus routes serve the district.

The district houses the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and manages nearly ten percent of South African listed companies within its concentrated business area.
