The Leonardo, Skyscraper in Sandton, South Africa
The Leonardo rises 55 floors above Sandton, reaching 227 meters (745 feet) with apartments, offices, and retail spaces distributed across its height. The building features multiple entrances, large elevator shafts, and floors with different functions connected by shared areas on the ground level and upper floors.
Construction began in November 2015 and finished four years later, after the site was prepared for this development. Since opening in 2019, it has served as a residential and commercial hub in the evolving Johannesburg skyline.
Inside the building, an art collection brings together works by local South African artists that residents and guests encounter during everyday movements. The pieces hang in lobbies and elevator halls, turning routine passages into moments of quiet observation.
The tower includes conference rooms, a gym, a pool, and several restaurants mainly accessible to residents and their guests. Some areas on the ground floor are open to the public, while upper floors remain private.
At the top of the building sits a three-floor residence spanning more than 2000 square meters (21500 square feet). This space is one of the largest private residences in the country, offering room for reception areas, private chambers, and panoramic terraces.
