Holy Resurrection Church is an Armenian-Apostolic house of worship located in Pine Valley, set on a substantial plot of land. The building features two distinctive domes positioned on either side of the structure, defining its architectural character.
Construction began in 1985 and was completed in 1989 under the direction of Krikor Der Balian, a survivor of the Armenian genocide. The church was later placed under the jurisdiction of the Catholicosate of all Armenians in Etchmiadzin in 2016.
The church serves as a spiritual home for the Armenian community in Eswatini, where members gather for worship and religious observances. It represents an important connection to Armenian-Apostolic traditions in southern Africa.
The church is located in Pine Valley, a residential area of Mbabane, and is accessible by car. Visitors should note that this is an active religious site, so it is advisable to check opening times or contact ahead before visiting.
Founder Krikor Der Balian arrived in Eswatini after spending years in Egypt and Sudan, seeking a place for retirement. His decision to build this spiritual center in a remote southern African location reflects a remarkable commitment to serving the diaspora community.
