Capricorn District Municipality

The Capricorn District Municipality spans 21,706 square kilometers and includes major towns such as Alldays, Dendron, Morebeng, and Senwabarwana in Limpopo province.

The municipality emerged as an administrative entity on December 5, 2000, marking a new chapter in local governance for the northern regions of South Africa.

Northern Sotho represents the primary language of communication for 84.9 percent of residents, reflecting the strong cultural identity of the local communities.

The N1 highway connects the district to Gauteng province, while the internal airport in Polokwane facilitates air travel throughout the region.

The municipality derives its name from the Tropic of Capricorn geographical line that crosses through its territories at latitude 23.5 degrees south.
