Rwesero Art Museum

Rwesero Art Museum occupies a former palace building with traditional architectural elements combined with modern design features on the hills of Nyanza. The spaces blend classic royal structures with contemporary exhibition rooms displaying paintings and sculptures.

Construction began originally as a royal residence for King Mutara III. Rudahigwa, who died in 1959 before the building was completed. The unfinished structure was later transformed into an art gallery and opened to the public in 2006.

The museum displays works by contemporary Rwandan artists exploring themes of rebuilding, memory, and healing. The exhibitions reveal how local creators express their perspectives on society and shared experience through visual art.

The museum sits on a hillside with good views of the surrounding area, and a visit can be combined with the nearby King's Palace Museum. Present your ticket there to receive a thirty percent discount.
