Local traditions prohibit swimming in Lake Tritriva, as the waters hold sacred significance and are connected to the legend of two forbidden lovers.

Visitors can reach Lake Tritriva by taking National Road 34 from Antsirabe for 15 kilometers, with the final stretch requiring a four-wheel drive vehicle.

The lake exhibits an unusual hydrological pattern where water levels decrease during rainy seasons and increase during dry periods due to underground connections.
