Located in a former sugar factory, the Stella Matutina Museum presents industrial machinery and exhibits about sugar production across 3,700 square meters.
The museum opened in 1991 and received a complete renovation in 2011, leading to its reopening in 2015 with new scientific and cultural presentations.
The exhibits document the transition from coffee to sugar cane cultivation on Reunion Island, featuring artifacts about population settlement, slavery, and indentured labor.
The facility includes a 400-seat auditorium, 4D cinema, educational spaces, documentation center, meeting rooms, and operates Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM.
Visitors can examine sugar manufacturing techniques spanning 200 years through preserved machinery and industrial equipment from the original sugar factory.
