Nyali Bridge, Concrete girder bridge in Mombasa, Kenya.
Nyali Bridge is a concrete bridge that crosses Tudor Creek, linking Mombasa Island to the mainland. The structure carries multiple traffic lanes and serves as a major route for vehicles and pedestrians moving between the island and surrounding areas.
The current bridge replaced a floating pontoon structure from 1931 that first connected Mombasa Island to the mainland. This newer version provided a more stable and permanent crossing as traffic demands increased.
The bridge functions as a primary transportation link for residents, merchants, and visitors traveling between the island city and mainland communities.
A police checkpoint operates at the mainland approach to monitor cross-traffic. Expect potential delays during peak hours when vehicle flow is heaviest.
The central span of the bridge measures 150 meters, supported by a prestressed continuous box girder system over three main sections.
