Elizabeth Quay, Waterfront development near Swan River in Perth, Australia
Elizabeth Quay is a waterfront promenade along the Swan River in Perth with wide walkways, open plazas, and dining options that encourage visitors to linger. The space connects different areas through continuous pathways and offers water views along with ferry terminal access.
The project began in 2012 and opened to the public in 2016 as part of a major cityscape renewal. It was intended to give Perth a new public gathering space along the water.
The First Contact statue, rising 5 meters high, represents the historical meeting between European settlers and the Aboriginal Noongar people of Western Australia.
The ferry terminal connects you to the zoo and other destinations, while free buses and train services are also available. The space is easy to walk around and the flat design makes it accessible for most people.
An interactive water park with moving fountains and water jets offers free entertainment on warmer days. Many visitors discover these water features only when they venture closer to the water's edge.
