Museum Fatahillah

Museum Fatahillah is a three-story building with cream-colored walls and green wooden doors located in Jakarta's Old Town. Inside, visitors find historical maps, traditional furniture, ceramics, and numismatic objects arranged throughout the space.

The building was constructed between 1707 and 1710 as the City Hall of Batavia and served as the administrative center for over two centuries. It was eventually converted into a museum to preserve the city's past for public understanding.

The museum displays objects that show how people lived and shaped the city across different periods, from ancient kingdoms to colonial times. These collections help visitors understand the daily lives and values of those who came before.

The museum is located in the Old Town and is easy to reach on foot while exploring the local streets. There is a canteen for meals and a cinema hall where documentaries are shown regularly.

The building has underground cells that once served as a prison under Dutch East India Company rule with harsh conditions. These spaces remain visible today and reveal a darker chapter of the city's story.
