East Bekasi is a district of Bekasi containing four urban villages: Bekasi Jaya, Margahayu, Duren Jaya, and Aren Jaya. The area sits within the Jabodetabek metropolitan region and spans roughly 1,500 hectares.
The area was part of the Kingdom of Tarumanagara in the fifth century, an early Javanese realm. Its name comes from the Candrabhaga River, mentioned in local historical inscriptions.
