Information Museum, Communication museum in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Indonesia
The Information Museum is a museum set inside the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah complex in Jakarta, Indonesia, housed in a five-pointed star-shaped building. The shape refers to the five principles of Pancasila and the five dimensions of information media, while the interior galleries trace how communication and broadcasting technologies developed in Indonesia.
The museum opened in 1993 following a government initiative to document the history of communication technologies and media in Indonesia. It was part of a broader program to preserve and share the country's broadcasting and information heritage with the public.
The museum displays recreated broadcast studios from RRI radio and TVRI television dating to the 1990s, along with original props from the children's series Si Unyil. These exhibits show how journalists worked in radio and television newsrooms and what kind of entertainment shaped Indonesian media for generations.
The museum sits inside the large Taman Mini complex and is open from Tuesday through Sunday. Entry to this building requires a separate ticket in addition to the general admission for the Taman Mini park itself.
At the entrance stands a monument called Never Extinguished Fire, dedicated to the commitment of Indonesian information workers throughout the country's history. Many visitors walk past it without stopping, even though it is one of the few monuments of its kind in Jakarta.
