Information Museum, Communication museum in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Indonesia
The Information Museum is housed in a distinctive five-pointed star-shaped building located within Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, symbolizing both Pancasila principles and the five dimensions of information media. Inside are exhibition galleries displaying items that trace how communication and broadcasting technologies developed in Indonesia over time.
The museum opened in 1993 following a government initiative to document how communication technologies and media systems developed in Indonesia. This project was part of broader efforts to preserve and share the country's information and broadcasting history with the public.
The museum displays recreated broadcast studios from RRI radio and TVRI television dating to the 1990s, along with original props from the children's series Si Unyil. These exhibits offer a window into how journalists worked in radio and television newsrooms, and what kind of entertainment shaped Indonesian media consumption for generations.
The museum sits within the larger Taman Mini complex and welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday. Keep in mind that entry to this building requires a separate fee in addition to the general admission charge for Taman Mini itself.
At the entrance stands a Never Extinguished Fire Monument, symbolizing the dedication and sacrifice of information workers throughout Indonesian history. Visitors often miss this feature, even though it carries deep meaning about the commitment of Indonesian journalists and broadcasters.
