Science and Technology Demonstration Center Museum, Science museum at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, Jakarta, Indonesia
The Science and Technology Demonstration Center Museum is an interactive science museum within the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah park complex in Jakarta. The exhibition space spans several floors and includes sections for physics, biology, chemistry, and an outdoor area with prehistoric fossil replicas.
The center was established through the initiative of the research and technology minister during the mid-1980s. The building was initially erected as a temporary structure and first opened its doors to the public in the early 1990s.
The facility carries its name from Indonesian, where it is known as Pusat Peragaan Ilmu Pengetahuan dan Teknologi. School groups from across the metropolitan area regularly use the rooms for project days, with teachers guiding students through experiments.
The center is open on weekdays from late morning and on weekends for slightly longer hours, with admission requiring a modest fee. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as the exhibition areas are spread across multiple floors and involve considerable walking.
A generator with an electric sphere creates voltages that make visitors' hair stand on end, while they themselves become part of the experiment. A bicycle device allows you to float through the room on a suspended cable, directly experiencing balance and gravity.
