PGC 2, Bus rapid transit station in East Jakarta, Indonesia
PGC 2 is a bus rapid transit station on the Transjakarta network in East Jakarta, Indonesia, located near the Pulogadung commercial area. The station has elevated, covered waiting areas with access to several bus corridors serving different parts of the city.
The Transjakarta line that PGC 2 belongs to opened in 2004 as the first bus rapid transit service in Southeast Asia. The network grew considerably in the following years and expanded into the eastern part of the city, where this station was established.
PGC 2 sits next to the Pulogadung trade and shopping center, one of the busiest commercial spots in the eastern part of the city. Many commuters use the stop as a starting point for shopping or heading to work nearby.
The station is reached by pedestrian walkways connecting it to the adjacent shopping center, so it is easy to get your bearings on foot. A reloadable Transjakarta card speeds up entry considerably, as cash is not accepted at the turnstiles.
PGC 2 is one of the few Transjakarta stations directly connected to a large wholesale market, allowing traders to move goods without a detour from the stop. It is not unusual to see passengers carrying large loads of merchandise on the platform.
