Jakarta International Stadium, Football stadium in Tanjung Priok, Indonesia
Jakarta International Stadium is a football venue in Tanjung Priok, Indonesia, with seating for 82,000 people and a retractable roof that can close to shield the field from rain. The complex spreads across a large site and features multiple tiers of seating, facilities for players and media, and spaces for commercial and hospitality use.
Work started in September 2019 and continued through the COVID-19 pandemic with safety measures in place until the site opened in April 2022. The project aimed to create a modern venue for regional and international matches in one of Southeast Asia's largest cities.
The outer walls display tiger stripe patterns that reference Persija Jakarta, the local team whose colors and animal emblem are woven into the building's appearance. On match days the venue fills with supporters who turn the space into a gathering point for chanting, singing, and showing loyalty to their side.
The venue sits in the port district of Jakarta and includes large parking areas plus multiple gates that help spread the flow of people entering the site. Visitors can reach the grounds by public transport, as the area connects to bus routes and commuter lines.
The roof assembly holds an Indonesian record for the heaviest stadium roof ever lifted into place during construction. The operation required specialized lifting equipment and careful planning to move the massive structure safely onto its supports.
