North Jakarta

North Jakarta consists of six districts spread across 140 square kilometers, featuring a combination of residential areas, industrial zones, and coastal regions.

The region originated as Sunda Kelapa port in the 14th century, later becoming a central part of Dutch colonial Batavia with strategic maritime importance.

The districts of North Jakarta display Indonesian and Chinese influences in their architecture, traditions, and local festivals throughout the year.

The area contains two major ports, Tanjung Priok and Sunda Kelapa, serving as primary gateways for maritime trade in the Jakarta metropolitan region.

North Jakarta faces continuous challenges with land subsidence, causing some areas to sink at rates reaching 25 centimeters per year.
