Barli Museum, Private collections of paintings & sculptures by local artists, as well as trendy cafes & restaurants

Barli Museum is an art museum in Sukasari that houses the works of painter Barli Sasmitawinata in a three-story residential building. The structure spans about 1.200 square meters (12.900 square feet) and is designed to receive natural light and good air circulation, making it ideal for displaying artworks.

The museum was founded by Barli Sasmitawinata, who began his artistic career during Dutch colonial times and was dedicated to sharing local stories through painting. After his death, the building was opened to the public to honor his artistic legacy and preserve his work for future generations.

The museum is named after the painter Barli and was founded with his wife Atikah to preserve artworks and local stories. The paintings on display show scenes from daily life and Indonesian landscapes, offering visitors insight into how the artist saw his surroundings and community.

The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM and is located in Sukasari, Bandung, easily accessible to visitors. There is a small dining area on the first floor where visitors can relax, while galleries on the upper floors invite exploration.

A special section displays Barli's personal story through photographs, paintings, and awards, with an important rule that visitors cannot take close-up photos of artworks to preserve their authenticity and condition. Additionally, the museum runs an educational program called Sekolah Bumi, led by Barli's grandson, offering free drawing and creative classes to underprivileged children.
