State University of Surabaya, Public university and research publisher in Surabaya, Indonesia.
State University of Surabaya is a public university and research publisher in Surabaya, Indonesia, divided between two main sites in Ketintang and Lidah Wetan. Seven faculties spread across both locations offer programs in fields such as engineering, sports sciences, and natural sciences.
The institution emerged in 1964 under the name IKIP Surabaya on the grounds of former Dutch educational facilities. It later evolved into a full university with an expanded range of subjects.
The campus takes its name from the city of Surabaya and serves as a training ground for future teachers throughout East Java. Students often gather in the green spaces between faculty buildings to study together or exchange ideas.
Both sites are located in the Karang Pilang area and can be reached by public transport or motorbike. Visitors should check in advance which faculty or facility they wish to visit, as travel between the two areas may take some time.
Beyond teaching, the institution runs an open-access scholarly publisher that releases research findings and academic journals. This dual role allows knowledge to spread beyond the boundaries of its own campus.
