Areia Branca beach and hinterland

Areia Branca beach spans a wide section of shoreline with clear turquoise water meeting the sand in a gentle curve. Small vendors and simple structures for seating and shade are scattered along the waterfront, creating an informal setup for visitors.

Portuguese traders established this coastal zone in the 16th century as part of their early settlement in the region and built maritime networks. This long period of foreign presence shaped how the area was developed and connected to distant ports.
