Charles Grimes Bridge, Road bridge in Docklands precinct, Melbourne, Australia.
The Charles Grimes Bridge spans the Yarra River with dual four-lane structures, connecting Footscray Road to Johnson, Lorimer, Montague, and Brady Streets.
The bridge construction started in January 1975 under the Country Roads Board supervision and initially operated under the name Johnson Street Bridge until 1983.
A bronze plaque on the bridge commemorates Charles Grimes, the first European explorer who discovered the Yarra River during his expedition in February 1803.
The bridge carries eight traffic lanes total, with four lanes in each direction, and includes footpaths for pedestrian access across the Yarra River.
The structure required complex computer analysis during design due to its curved alignment and varying span lengths ranging from 12 to 33.5 meters.
