Jim Stynes Bridge, Suspension bridge in Docklands, Australia.

This steel structure spans the Yarra River and connects Melbourne's central business district with the Docklands precinct. The 120-meter suspension bridge allows both pedestrians and cyclists to move quickly between these two key urban areas.

The Victoria State Government and Melbourne City Council initiated the project, which opened to the public in June 2014. It was built as part of urban development to improve connections between two rapidly growing districts.

The name honors an Irish-born Australian rules football player whose legacy appears on bronze plaques along the bridge. Visitors notice these markers celebrating his impact on sport and community life.

Access is available for both pedestrians and cyclists, with separate lanes ensuring safe crossing for each user type. Visit during dry weather when the path is most pleasant to use.

The bridge design touches the river at only two points along its entire length, minimizing water flow disruption during flood events. This thoughtful engineering shows how designers adapted the structure to the river's natural conditions.
