Crown Melbourne, Casino and entertainment complex in Southbank, Melbourne, Australia
Crown Melbourne is a large entertainment complex on the south bank of the Yarra River that combines hotels, gaming rooms and many dining establishments. The complex spreads over a wide site in Southbank and operates around the clock in its gaming and hotel sections.
The facility opened in 1994 on the north bank of the Yarra River before moving to its current Southbank location in 1997. This relocation expanded the available space and allowed for growth in hotel and event capacity.
The Palladium ballroom at Crown Melbourne hosts major Australian events including the Logie Awards and Formula One Grand Prix celebrations throughout the year.
The complex has two car parks with a total of 5000 spaces that provide direct access to the different areas. Multiple entrances lead to hotel lobbies, gaming sections and dining establishments, making it easy for visitors to find their way.
Eight towers along the Yarra River produce synchronized flame displays at set times in the evening, shooting fire spheres into the air. These fire shows are clearly visible from the riverbank and draw passersby to watch.
