Green Spine, Dual skyscraper development in Southbank, Melbourne, Australia
The Green Spine is a dual skyscraper complex in Southbank with two connected towers rising to 366 meters and 251 meters in height. The geometric glass façade wraps around multiple levels with integrated green areas throughout.
The site was previously a BMW dealership until 2017, when a developer acquired it for new construction. The towers then rose on this formerly commercial land.
The development brings together public spaces, botanical gardens, and residential areas as a meeting point for the neighborhood. Visitors move through different levels where green areas appear throughout the complex.
The complex sits in the city center along several street frontages and is easily accessible. Public areas remain open during the day for visitors to walk through.
The exterior features continuous garden terraces spiraling upward along the towers in an unusual pattern. These vertical gardens create a striking visual feature that runs throughout both structures.
