Eureka Skydeck, Observation deck in Southbank, Australia.
Eureka Skydeck sits on level 88 of a glass tower rising 300 meters above Melbourne, offering 360-degree views across the city and surrounding regions. On clear days, the horizon reaches toward distant mountain ranges and the Port Phillip Bay in the distance.
The observation deck first opened in 2006 as the Southern Hemisphere's tallest public viewing point at that time. Since then, it has become one of Melbourne's most-visited spots, attracting people seeking an elevated perspective of the city.
The building honors the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people, the traditional inhabitants from the Kulin Nation, through permanent displays and acknowledgments visible throughout. These tributes remind visitors of the land's first peoples and their ongoing connection to this place.
The observation deck opens daily from noon until 10 PM, with reduced hours on select holidays like Christmas. Fast elevators get you to the top in minutes, and most visitors spend between one and two hours enjoying the views and exhibitions.
The Voyager Theatre features specialized interactive pod chairs that take visitors on a digital journey through Melbourne's neighborhoods and landmarks. This immersive experience complements the physical views and offers a different angle on exploring the city.
