Freshwater Place, Residential skyscraper in Southbank, Melbourne, Australia
Freshwater Place is a residential tower in Southbank, Melbourne, made up of a lower podium section, a mid-rise portion, and a taller core that rises above the surrounding buildings. It holds several hundred apartments spread across its 60 floors.
Freshwater Place was completed in 2005, during a period when Southbank was being developed into a residential area along the south bank of the Yarra River. At the time of its completion, it was among the tallest residential buildings in that part of Melbourne.
The ground-floor arcade at Freshwater Place runs between the surrounding streets and is used as a shortcut by people on foot. The restaurants and shops along it serve mostly residents and nearby workers during the day.
The building sits in Southbank, within walking distance of central Melbourne and the Yarra riverbank. Public transport stops nearby, making it easy to reach from other parts of the city.
On the 40th floor, there is a residents-only club with an infinity pool that looks out over the city center and the river. This space is not open to the public, so the view from that level is something only people who live in the building ever see.
