Cape Conran Coastal Park

Cape Conran Coastal Park is a nature reserve on Victoria's eastern shore, featuring sandy beaches, woodlands, heathlands, and dramatic rocky cliffs. The landscape transitions between different habitats, creating varied terrain for exploration.

The park was established in 1997 to protect the natural habitats and ecological balance of this coastal region. This decision recognized the importance of safeguarding the diverse species that depend on these landscapes.

The land holds deep connections to the Gunditjmara and other Aboriginal peoples, whose presence is woven through the stories of this place. Local guides share knowledge about traditional practices and how people have lived with this landscape for thousands of years.

The park has multiple camping areas with basic facilities like toilets and outdoor showers for visitor use. Wear sturdy shoes as trails cross varied terrain, and pack layers since coastal weather can change quickly.

Between May and October, migrating whales pass by the coast, and you might spot rare creatures like Lace Monitors, Southern Brown Bandicoots, and Long-nosed Potoroos. This season offers the best chance to see the wildlife that calls this coastline home.
