Edmund Barton Building, Modernist office building in Barton, Australia
The Edmund Barton Building features seven wings constructed with precast concrete elements, forming repetitive patterns across its 50,000 square meter structure.
Completed in 1974 under architect Harry Seidler's direction, the building received its name from Australia's first Prime Minister and founding High Court judge.
The structure includes Norman Carlberg's sculptures Black Widow and Concrete Form from 1975, plus a memorial sculpture of Sir Edmund Barton.
The building underwent a 115 million dollar renovation between 2007 and 2009 to accommodate security requirements for the Australian Federal Police.
The structure employs three primary components - facade beams, floor beams, and column elements - to create its entire architectural composition.
