Belanglo State Forest, State forest in New South Wales, Australia
Belanglo State Forest is a managed state forest in New South Wales, located about three kilometers west of the Hume Highway. The forest covers roughly 3,800 hectares (9,400 acres) of planted pine with native woodland along the edges.
Plantation with radiata pine began here in 1919 and shaped the region's commercial timber use. The plantations developed over decades into a large forest area with multiple sections and pathways.
The forest has become an important recreation area where walkers follow marked trails through grove and clearing. On weekends you often see riders on the paths and mountain bikers climbing the hills.
Dalys Clearing sits about five kilometers from the highway and offers set-up camping spots among the trees. Day visitors will also find tables and sanitary facilities here.
The forestry program combines timber production with protection of waterways and native plants along the edges. The boundary strips also serve as refuge for animals from the surrounding land.
