Victoria Inn

The Victoria Inn is a one and a half storey Colonial Georgian building made of sandstone brick with a symmetrical front facing in Berrima. The house has ten rooms with high ceilings and two attic spaces with dormer windows, along with various outbuildings from different construction periods.

A former convict named Joseph Levy built the building, which received its first license in 1840. Under the management of licensee Philip Solomon, it operated as both an inn and a brewery.

The building displays English bond brickwork and original cedar staircases that show how craftspeople in the 1840s built with skill and care. These details reflect the building techniques that were common in early colonial homes.

The building sits at 20-22 Jellore Street in Berrima and is easy to spot from outside. Access is straightforward as it is located at a well-known address in the town center.

The building retains an original cedar fireplace surround that was rarely preserved in other homes from this time. This handcrafted work shows the quality of early colonial craftsmanship.
